Thanks Fishunter, I am at the Gold coast.
Not sure of who CBF is.

    Per chance is it BCF?

Not sure about BCF, try Whitworths or Bias boating? Although most boating outlets should sell them, or just make one by purchasing some parts, probably cheaper??

Kind of looks like the sort of thing you could make yourself for nothing, a nice long rubber ring from a large diameter pipe, a bit of cheap rope and your set.

No its not quite like that.
The beauty of the unit is that it stretches , and is attached to a normal anchor rope.
What I use it for is pumping yabbies.
I anchor in deep water, reverse into shallows with motor lifted and the anchor buddy stretches while anchor is firmly set.
Once in shallow water i drop the motor which acts as a reverse anchor. at the same time for security i throw out another anchor.
When I want to leave, I lift motor and pull on anchor buddy which propels me out to deep water.
As I fish alone most of the time it is very handy accessory.

Platinum Marine did stock them a while back although I ended up purchasing from Cabelas in the US, distribution changes a bit as it seems like the manufacturer only produces them when he has a lot of orders.

Make your own mate. Buy shock cord at bunnings or mitre 10 and get the clips from bias boating.

Re: Where can I buy an Anchor Buddy in Australia

Thanks for the tip re shock cord. Never heard of it.

Prior to your answer I had ordered one from West Marine in the US, after I received their name from distributor as having an export dept.

It appears they do not have a distributor in Australia.

Jeff, This is the link to where I ordered
    http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs...0001_440624_-1

Not sure if I got a discount for shipping because of my order for 2 units but cost was
    2xUS$27.99 =$US$55.98 + shipping US$42.15 for a total of US$98.13.

This resulted in A$93.78 + transaction fee for international transaction of A$2.34 for a total of$96.12 for the 2.

Worth every cent, and service was first class.
