Offshore charter Sunny Coast mid May

Brother in law has booked "Top Catch" charter for mid May 4 days after full moon. What can be expected to chomp at this time of the year & has anybody been on this vessel before? (Looks like a 43ft Steber so should be a good boat! )
    Cheers
    Steve

    Hi Steve,

No have not been on the boat or know where they fish ??
If they run out of Noosa or Mooloolaba, you will likely run out wide to the Barwon Banks/offshore Teewah to target Pearl Perch / Snapper / Parrot etc.

May have a troll for a Spanish Mackerel ?

Hope you have a great trip !!

Thanks mate. I've fished Barwon from Scarborough when I had my big plate tinnie (long trip!) & did OK but it was a few years ago now. I've never fished the northern reefs off Noosa but have a funny idea someone mentioned years ago that they are the southernmost reefs for Reds. Would that memory be correct?

I think it is one of Glen Adamson's old boats from Fish and Crab charters. It is a 45' Harriscraft, Steber looking thing. After the full moon is not so good. Moon by night fish by night and all that and lead up to moons are better than going away from moons. Coming off the back of a new moon is worse in my experience so shouldn't be too bad. Just need to good weather to make it enjoyable.

I'd say the Caloundra 12mile is the most southerly consistent legal red spot. Little reds pop up in Moreton Bay and you'd expect a few legals to be caught off Moreton, just we don't hear about them on Ausfish.

    Thanks fellas.
Only one way to find out & at least all blokes going are fishos. Went on a charter from Bundy & my mate & I were the only people who had fished before out of 8 clients. Not the best trip but I suppose everyone has to start somewhere, although the other blokes had shouted their dad his first fishing experience. None had fished before & were'nt going again! Bad timing I guess.
I'll keep you all posted on the outcome.
Smithy, I'll look you up sometime in the future although my time management skills are @#%*ed.
