    Southern moreton bay

Hi guys i wasnt sure where to post this, but on saturday im thinking of going out in the bay for my first time, and i have a few questions, maybe people can help me with.

firstly where does everyone check there weather, where can i find the most reliable forecast?

what sort of gear should i be taking ?

what rig is the best to increase my catch chance (i would like to get a couple of snapper)?

what bait would you use ?

are hand held GPS any good ?

is victoria point a good boat ramp, and does it matter what the tides are like to get past coochiemudlo ?

and of course the question everyone was waiting for, haha
can anyone give me some marks of common ground to catch some legal fish, Sweet lip, pearch, snapper somthing like this ? not spot X just somthing decent.

or you can PM me a good spot if you like

    Thanks
    OH

    hey,
seabreeze is an indication of the coming weeks weather http://www.seabreeze.com.au/graphs/qld.asp
    or short range BOM..
    http://www.bom.gov.au/qld/forecasts/...l_waters.shtml
saturday at present is showing 15 knots +.... but sunday looks the go at under 10knots SE to ESE

i'd take fishing gear ... not heavy and not too light... if fishing reefs be prepared to loose some tackle

for bait.... soft plastics (in the usual flavours) or squid, maybe hardiheads or pillies.

a handheld if it has maps should be ok....harder to find spots without pictures

i use viccy point (VMR ramp) most the time and find it really user friendly for solo launch and retrieve..... it can shoal to under .5m at low tides andu may roll off end of ramp (no biggie but).... head straight out from ramp till lined up between 2 reds then head for 1 of them.... follow the lead at slow speed on tilt and ud be ok...

snapper round the reef north end of coochie....west of the red marker in 2 to 4 meters....but probably better round peel (watch the green zone there, fish 4 to 7 meters) but can be a bumpy ride in winds over 15knots

    hope this helps
    Cheers Chris

And dont forget to buy your bait at the last shop in colburn ave [ closest to the ramp] as i,m an ausfisher to, and ill have fresh squid on hand and i,ll give you a discount if you can prove who you are
