The goodbye sandfly arrived from NZ today ...... this is apparently good stuff on their savage sandflies (I know just how savage they are) - Anyhow ..... 2 x 50ml bottles cost about $28 landed. As it is all oil based (almond oil, lavender , Eucalyptus , pine , manuka , tea tree & lemon grass) you dont need much ..... APPARENTLY!

ANYHOW .... I'll let you know how it goes in a couple of weeks ....... Along with another couple of home brews that I'm working on . ..... If they work for me - they will work for anyone .... because right now - nothing does

It wont stop the bites, but you can get a break from the itching by rubbing the bites with soluble asparin .
Just put a dab of water on the bite and rub an asparin on them, almost instant relief.

dunno if it will work where our going , but anyhow . We have just re mulched all our front gardens with sugarcane mulch , every neighbourhood cat decided they had a new toilet , i heard cats hate citrus smells so went and got 3 bottles of the cheapo citronella oil for the garden torch thingies and sprayed them all over the garden beds and mulch .

No more cats digging in the gardens and also no more midgies or mozzies ??

We live across the road from the edge of mortern bay and the midgies are nasty at the moment after the rains , even during the day but hell at night . after spraying the citronella around , we havent been bitten once .

ok lets go back to basics.... COW DUNG works every time in a camp fire but if your out in a Boat try horse dung in a smoker .... personally i use horse or small portions of cow dung suspended in a 4 litre juice tin with a fire lighter once the fire lighter goes out the dung keeps smoldering .......no flame NO sandflies..

Burning certain things works - without a doubt ....... but my problem is that this location we get smashed getting out of the car & while setting the camp up . The last trip went to do some stuff in the boat - the buggers swarmed - that bad that I was spraying baygon in the boat ....... so burning shite is too late - but yeh sitting around the camp we do
