    Robinson River NT

    Hey all,

A few mates and myself are doing the annual trip to the Robinson River in late april (if it stops raining up there). Usually we fish the Robinson and the few smaller creeks east and west of the Robinson and settle with Barra, Jacks, Cod, Fingermark etc... But lately, a few people ive been talking to have led me to beleive that there are some decent reefs not to far offshore from the mouth of the Robinson, aparently within a few mile. Can anyone confirm any truth to these allegations? and if so a few directions or gps marks to get us started? Sure would be nice to bag a few reefies if the weather lets us get out there.

    Cheers,

    Leon.

Gumbo, we had a look last time we were there but couldn't find them, we ran some very shallow water out the mouth for quite a while before we gave up. Would like some GPS marks myself. BTW where abouts do you camp.

Usually camp about a mile from the mouth on the western side of the river (Greenbank Station). Cant get there if is to wet, so then we camp in the area where the transmission tower is.

We've camped there, great crabbing in that area and there is a great jew hole there also. We have also camped on the other side at 7 Emus, even way back inland past the rock bar and on the island in the river. That was worrying the first time we did that as 2 days before we were to leave the tide remained very high and it looked like we might get stuck there but on the day we had to leave the water dropped and we managed to get back to the mainland. What was scarier still is that we were there after the biggest wet they had seen in decades and we were camped about 30 feet above the water line but if you looked high up into the tall gum trees there was plenty of residue left by the recent high flood waters. Would like to get back there but the rest of the crew have split and gone to different pastures.
Best of luck on getting some GPS marks.
