    The six week closure

    Ok,

So the bullshit six week closure has been in place. It was implemented on Tuesday 15 Feb, soooo six weeks later makes it Tuesday 29 March.

They said it was six weeks, not me or us. Six weeks is up tomorrow. Have a great long weekend.

    FISH ON!!!!!

Official date is the 31st March - wouldn't be pushing that point if I were you, don't think you'd get much sympathy out on the water..

And then we can all go out and catch the billions of snapper that were born and grew up in that 6 weeks. I am looking forward to catching my bag limit thatnks to the closure.

Well wasnt that what the closure was aimed at? Increase snapper numbers exponentially, so we could all catch $hitloads of em when the closure opened back up????????????????

    Re: The six week closure

To give you an idea of the economic impact of that 6 week closure, I booked 3 offshore charters and one Bay charter in March. I already have 15 booked for April and the month has not yet started. I batted about 25% inMarch due to the closures.

Ask tackle shops, marine dealerships and anyone else who depends on people going fishing for their livelihood how bad this 6 week closure really was.

On top of the shit weather since last November, most marine businesses have been five months without much, or any sort of pay.

Let's hope Minister Wallace has a better idea of managing the Snapper fishery rather than shutting us all down for months at a time.

Bagging out won't be a problem for me, don't even need a rod and reel. I just need a net to scoop all the fish still floating on the surface because of baratrauma. Do you think they will still be around?
