Shame you didn't post this up 3 weeks ago as I could have inspected it for you and then towed it to Qld as I was just up there on holidays.

I inspected, serviced and sent a Bertram 20 from Melbourne to Mackay for an Ausfish member about 2 yrs back. It was a sight unseen (by the buyer) type of deal.

You will need to factor in approx 2K to cover your transport.

Also, it certainly pays to never "expect" anything (in relation to the mention of the trailer being in the water once). I have been out to very late model boats expecting a very simple "yep, yep, yep" and alls good inspection and discovered some real problems. Who knows where the trailer has been parked up these last few years. Could have rusted on its own. But it could have also been in a garage and be pristine.

Do you have a link to the boat? Is it on boatpoint/boatsales?

    Cheers
Some excellent points worthy of serious consideration.

Here are the links to both boats:

Got a mate with a 1750 mustang around 05-06 model with a 115 opti. Paid 35K for it new . Not a bad little boat. Also had a mate with one with a 90 opti on it (bit cheaper) but not a whole lot of difference between the 2 motors. Botrh went well. Maybe a little expensive though I have the next size up yalta and am happy with it. Should be able to pick one up for that kind of money.
    Good luck

My tow vehicles are a Holden Commodore (VZ) and a Toyota Aurion so I am being cautious on the towing capacity.

On dollars alone the Yalta seems a better deal, given theres no transport costings for you.

The sounder looks a very old unit??

I didn't realise that the Yalta was in Qld initially and as soon as I saw the first pic with the bimini extension at the rear I thought "this isn't a Victorian boat" and then of course I saw the Qld registration, then checked the ad details and discovered it was indeed a Qld boat.

The Yalta is around 4K cheaper (after factoring in transport) and they realistically would be much of a muchness in my view in terms of performance.

Personally, I would take the Yalta, maybe get a bust on dollars, maybe not, and perhaps even throw a couple of K at some bling bits and you will still be in front.

    Cheers

I'm not overly concerned about the electronics as I have kept the HDS7 and Structure Scan from my current boat.

I think it depends on the price of both of them too, the yalta is a cheaper boat to begin with.

I am no expert but by my thinking I would guess the Yalta to be at least 10k cheaper to begin with, and thats not taking into account the age and hours.

That is true but I am also thinking that as this purchase will be our last for quite a few years you need to be satisfied with what you purchase in the first instance (or is that just me trying to justify the additional cost of the Mustang?).

mate of mine had a 1750 mustang, had a lot of trouble keeping up with my 17c haines hunter when it got rough.

You won't know the true price of each boat until you find the lowest price from each seller which means talking turkey. I've never met a boat seller who I haven't been able to talk down in price even after winning an auction on ebay.

    Re: Mustang or Yalta Craft?

    Hi Andrew,

The two boats on offer are essentially the short list I had, but the 1750 against the 555 Yalta new. The major deciders for me were:

Yalta had more fuel under floor than the Tournament.
Headroom! Yalta enables me to stand in rough conditions and while crossing the bar. I feel like I have more control standing up.

But the tournament has a kill tank where the Yalta did not. Doesn't matter, I stick the head of fish into a Mini wheelie bin to bleed them, I don't like opening a bung up the front of a boat to let blood and scales find their way to the back, under the floor for drainage anyway!!

    Good luck with your decision.

How does that work Jarrah? Is the boat not as described when you see it in the flesh?

    Cheers

Thats right Oz I went to pick the boat up and found some problems that weren't mentioned and bargained the guy down. The steering was stiff and I couldn't get the tilt to work so down went the price. I fixed them myself when I got the boat.
