There is a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot
I wonder how much deeper the ocean would be without sponges
Up here we Use Hussar as baits for real RED FISHS (SHSIIFDER)
i recon tailor frames are the best,i also use whiting frames, slimies, mullet, old pillies and chicken frames
cheers rosco
I swear by chicken frames, but last time had a big eye trev in one of my pots that outcrabbed the chook frames.
keep in mind that chicken frames aren't great for a long soak. They're great for a few hours, then they need to be changed.
Red Emperor frames work pretty good We usually keep enough reef fish frames after each trip for some crabbing, never have any issues getting a feed.
Trevally, Mullet and anything a bit oily is always good too.
I have only used shark once and never got a crab :S

Woolworths Select cat food Tuna 85 g tin. Punch a couple holes in the tin, tie it to a mullet frame, works a treat.
cut shark into thin strips or thin pieces, this reduces the strong amonia smell- catch rates then escalate. ( same applies to s nose shark and s ray!!)
I mainly use mullet however every Grinner I catch ends up in a crab pot.
The crabs love them there is always mullet left in the pots and the Grinners are all but gone.
Cheers Axl
everything mentioned is good. wat ever i use i soak it overnight in a bucket of tuna oil. if using whole or half fish put a heap of stab marks in it before you soak. brings em from miles off..
