Red face Lowrance Structure Scan HELP!!??!!

We had our Structure Scan connected to our HDS7 unit 2 weeks ago ... took her out lastnight and there is no Structure Scan on the menu pages..... have read the books and they talk about LED lights ... does anyone know if these are on the structure scan box? Can't find any LED lights - so maybe thinking it might be a fuse...??? Surely people you sell and fit these units know how to connect everything correctly....

yes there LED's on the structure scanbox where the yellow plugs plug in, they all flash when they are connected. I had a problem recently with a loose cable and my screens were not linked, I noticed the LED was out on port 1. I know this isnt much help but thats where the LED's are.

    Hi Cass,

Check the power to the unit - fuse as you said.
There is a green led on the structure scan box that will tell you if it is on.

How old is the HDS 7? There have been a few software updates, the later updates are needed to run the Structure Scan.

If you need to update - go here:

One would assume it is something simple ... surely the installers tested the unit before they sent it out.

I never let anything leave our workshop without being tested.

    Cheers

I guess they were only busy testing / checking our new motor they fitted!!! We did ask them and they didn't fire it up when they went for a water test but you would think they would have tested in the w'shop....

vass the first thing is make sure that structure scan is turned in in the pages/ If you press pages button and scroll through there should be a structure scan page with all the various structure page options/

If not then you will need top press menu twice go to advanced and then select the turn structure scan on feature

also make sure that the wake up wire for the structure scan is connected. some people will individually switch this wire so then can turn structure scan on or off independent of the hds

    hope this helps

XCELLENT - we now have the structure scan turned on in the HDS7 - now it's saying no source - so guessing this is a power problem since we don't have any LED lights on the unit??? Thanks heaps for your help....

The HDS 7 should automatically recognise the structure scan module without having to turn it on in the menu.

Do you have any led lights on the structure scan box on yet?

No lights - is it the words that light up as there doesn't seem to be any small round led lights anywhere on the unit???

Did you check there is power at the unit (red wire)?
As La Vida said - did they run the yellow wire to a switch somewhere?
If not, the yellow and red wire must be hooked together.

    hey mate
i have seen this quite a bit always the yellow wire on the structure scan module if you dont have led lights on on the module , the power loom on the module has a red yellow and black wire on it make sure the yellow wire is powered up, if its done correctly will have its own switch but not uncommon to be with the main red wire power sorce.

the 3.5 update will automatically find sructure scan but if you are running 3.1 you need to tell unit its there but as stated above no led lights = no power to scructure scan module
