You want the long or the short answer?
There are signs up saying its closed. As to there being an actual issue, highly unlikely.
timddo
the signs would be there as they are at redcliffe stating closed, but they cant stop you fishing in these areas as it seems to be ok for the trawlers to be scraping the bottom out the front of scarby sometimes inside the yellow zone in broad daylight and morgans are running adds saying they have independant testing happening and its all thumbs up for the sale of moreton bay seapood (oops typo).
still dunno weather i would eat anything from the western bay , especially bottom dwellers(good pun there) as i believe there is still raw shitenhousen flowing through the river.
cheers swano
I was told through a friend that your not allowed to fish in Nudgee creek by fisheries.
Virtually all of Bramble Bay is a green zone (Marine National Park 13) but there is a yellow zone along the foreshore from the mouth of the Pine River to the mouth of Cabbage Tree Creek. I think these yellow zones extend for 500 metres from the shore. The Marine National Park extends right to the shore line between the mouth of Cabbage Tree Creek to just north of Nudgee Beach township. From there to the Brisbane River mouth is a blue zone (habitat protection zone) where the only thing that is prohibited is trawling.

I called Neil Roberts office yesterday to ask about health warnings etc and they are going to call me back. Apparently the last advice they were given was the 30/1 QHealth release.

Good luck with neil I say!! I am in that electorate, but I use the waterways in Victoria Darlings electorate.
With regards to health warnings, the state member refers us to the local counciller, Victoria Newton. Details here: http://www.victorianewton.com.au/hea...ree-creek.html
Note they say testing twice a week.
Derm is now doing the testing for BCC. The current results can be found on this website:http://www.brisbane.qld.gov.au/commu...fety/index.htm
Note the DERM testing is done once per week.
I have been in almost daily contact with the DERM department doing the testing, and the BCC department paying for the testing. Bascially the tests are inconclusive, they need 100 samples (they have 2) and they cant confirm the sampling is accurate and not contaminated due to poor lab procedures.
My interest isn't exactly fishing based. I am organising a family day down there for the company I work for, and I can't hold it down there if it hasn't officially been cleared of the warning given on 30/1.
Neil, while on the wrong side of politics , is a freind of my family so I will get the old girl to pull some strings if I don't hear from his office by early next week.

If I can put my two bob in , why nudgee ? ok for a barbie etc to walk around on the flats but there's no room for swimming, yuck. anywhere there.
The netters been netting all week south of nudgee to the mouth and up to the tree line there, the trawlers are dragging nets all along the beaches to the pine, so they'll all be in the shops. keen fisho's getting small chopper at the mouth of bris river today.
Bribie for me worth the drive if kids want to swim and barbie just a 1 hr etc drive worth the effort and not the worry.
But what ever enjoy yourself .
some good info above re 30/1 etc.... but this is the irony for me.... I listen to the radio while working all day everyday and there is an advertisement on there from the Moreton Bay Fisheries telling us all the seapood (lol) is great eat up...!!! Then within 5 minutes you hear another advertisement from the Sewage Treatment plants advising us that the damage to the network was severe, several plants are still not operating and that there is still a possibility that contaminants could be released into our river system. This may take up to another 5 to 6 weeks to repair...
Whilst I feel sorry for the fisheries as this was not their fault I am pretty hesitant eating anything out of the bay and will be for sometime to come. In saying this though I am sure that many who read this will tell you they have caught seafood in the bay and consumed it since the floods and that they did not get ill.
All the treatment plants are now fully functional. The bay is fine and the test results reflect this. The main problem at the moment is rain. Because sewerage pipes were damaged there was spill over onto land, so this gets washed into the rivers. Enterococci levels may be elevated the 2-3days after a significant rain event.
It's a dog day. Hence the off-leash dog area and large dog park. But given there has been no official clearance from the government. I'm not willing to take the chance of liability with a company event until I hear OFFICIALLY otherwise.
