Cast net found

While cast netting at the macleay island hole for prawns today noticed a rope about a foot under the surface grabbed the sucker and holy christ had a chain bottom pretty new top pocket cast net attached to the end not one hole in it,has anyone lost one there ? or have others come across things like this .

I was at the coast a few weeks back,
Caught 2 rods: 1 alvey and another Jarvis walker.
Also caught a skateboard.

Makes me wonder how people fish these days.
