Passage saturday night with a PB Bream

Well after a couple of sessions using plastics with no provail i decided to take the tinny out with some fresh mullet and maybe get a few bream. I got to spinnaker at around 5.00 pm and headed up around the old oyster lease jetty to fish the runout tide, got busted a couple of times early on before i upped the leader to 15 pound, crabs were really giving me the shi%'s but soon bagged out on bream and got a couple of grassy sweetlip around the 35 mark and also got a PB Bream of 38 cm

Yes and no Chris.Lol I went fishing for a couple of hours in the morning at the mouth of Ningi creek.Had trouble getting live bait but got a few poddys. Scored a big shovelnose near the oyster racks and didnt get another touch other than the crabs.
Met the misses and some friends over at Bribie for lunch for a few hours and then went out again.Managed to get some more poddys, some herring and even a few prawns.Went and sat under the bridge for a while had a couple short runs on the live herrings with no hook ups.Flicked a few soft plastics around the pylons had a few small hits think they were pike.
Went back over to Ningi creek for a while more crabs and a few more runs and some grunter.Gee they hit hard for there size.I headed back in about 5 sounds like I should have stayed.I'll have to give it another go this week.
I talked to some guys at the boat ramp who caught a few flatties on plastics and another guy who had 2 flatties,2 cod and 2 crabs all caught early morning.
Had my first encounter with Boat ramp rage at the spinnaker ramp it was quit amusing!

All in all sounded like a good day though mate, i'm heading out again this weekend for another evening fish so if your up to it you should head out. I rather fish the nights as it's to busy during the day. Spinnaker rage is usually started by people that go out all day and get sunburned, catch 50 stingray, lose a rod and there anchor and then have to take it out on some poor bugger at the ramp. I had my boat winch cable snap on Saturday night, got home and the boat was resting about a foot back on the safety chain...........lucky hey?

P.S don't sit under the bridge, there is some really nice bottom south of the bridge about 60 metres away from the oyster lease jetty....... fishing under bridge= pain and frusteration but i do get a giggle of a night time when all the serious fishos are under the bridge with 455 fishing rods out with a diffferent bait on each rod berlying hard and catching nothing (on a runout tide all that berly comes my way ) i even seen one guy on saturday night with 2 rods out, full rollers and bigger game reels than i have used offshore.

heres me out there with 2 2-4 kg rods, small shimano 2500 reels, 10 pound braid outfishing them all love it!!!!!!!!!

Mate if I come out it will prob have to be in the morning to early afternoon got baby sit the 5 month old later in the afternoon to evening Is that your boat in your avatar I'll look out for you if Im out in the evening sometime or Ill PM you.
I have only been out to Bribie twice now in my boat so Im just getting the hang of the area. Was trying near the bridge because I know you can catch cod there. The mouth of Ningi creek does show potential though. So are you fishing on the edge of the channel when your fishing south of the bridge?
Im fishing with about the same got a small outfit with 6lb braid and one with some small 20lb braid just in case it calls for it.
Close call with your boat mate one of the last times I came back from Maroochy my tie down strap broke on the highway the only thing holding from moving side to side was the occy strap on the motor support bracket.

i'm keen for a early early morning fish, might even take the pots. If that was my boat in the avator mate do you really think i would be playing in the passage nah it's dads boat, fisher 570 centrecab, suzuki 4 stroke 150, raymarine radar and all the trimmings, awesome offshore boat.
I just have a 4 meter clark tinny with a 25 yammy, front and rear casting decks, full floor, navman colour sounder, my brother built my dads boat as he is a boat builder for Origin boats (was at fisher before they closed) so my tinny has full side decks, 6 welded in rod holders, modified transom for the long leg yammy, bow and stern rails......... great creek boat but is getting on in age (95 model boat, 2002 motor)
Hard to explain where i fish around the bridge. Have to show you

hey chris, must of one of those weeks, i took my dads boat out last week, pulled it out the night before and cleaned it out ready to go, and at the time i hit my elbow pretty hard on the front of the boat, thought nothing of it, put the boat back in the shed, hooked it up to the car a 4am in the dark thought all was good... when i got down to the ramp i seen the winch had freely rolled out (elbow must of hit the stopper on the winch) boat was sitting about a foot back scewed off to the right about a foot only being held by the safety chain, i was kicking myself i didnt check it befor i left, but im thankful she stayed on,

Worth there wait in gold the old safety chain, im very paranoid about it aswell and ALWAYS put it on before i pull the trailer out of the water and up the ramp, i seen a 60 k cruise craft slide off its trailer due to winch letting go at spinnaker one day because he never put his safety chain on.

Re: Passage saturday night with a PB Bream

yer i wouldnt drive up the ramp with out it on ether, thats with any boat i have, especialy my outside boat, way to much invested to be lazy,

oh and have only been out bribe way a few times as well we get a holiday house down there for a week each year, we only live at beerwah but its good to be able to be that close to the ramp and on the water everyday, and i have only found 2 good spots, one for fishing which is just driffing though the channel just south west of the ship wreck, and the other is really good for sand crabs that up a little further,

we are heading back down in september...
