    Transducer Mounting

    Hello

I've a tinny and rather than drill holes below the waterline to mount a transducer, I'm toying with the idea of cutting a section of white plastic cutting board and fixing it to the transom with some 3m 5200.

Have anyone used this adhesive and if so would it be strong enough to hold the block in place or is there a better product?

    Cheers

You could also drill & tap a piece of 6mm ally.
Then sika flex it to the hull, or use some dow corning silicone.
If using mil-finish, best to rough it up abit first.

just silicon it to the inside of the boat so it shoots through the hull... best picture ever on my 3.95 with a Lowrance 337C DF

Use non acetic curing silicon... very easy to do

Any advice on any specific location and does it have to be level?

    Thanks

    Re: Transducer Mounting

I will take a good pic for all to see tomorrow.. we have it between 2 strakes in a position which has it shooting straight down so it is actually on an angle to get it to shoot straight down

That would be great. I thought about mounting it internally originally but then I read that it wouldn't work with alloy hulls from the sounder manufacturing sites or if I tried I might have to buy some expensive thru hull unit which would probably cost more than the sounder

    Re: Transducer Mounting

Thanks, I'm assuming its at the back off centre but does it matter whether the transducer is pointing forward or backwards,

hey Gary does that work for an old 5m glass boat too?

I hate having the transducer out the back when beach launching
