Where Is Good Spot To Pump Yabbies Either In Broardwater Or Nerang River.

Have Only Fished The Area Couple Times.

I got quite a few along the water's edge between the bridge and the Southport Yacht club last week. Have also got them in the past at the mouth of Loders creek near the Broadwater caravan park. I am landbased so there might be more productive banks that are accessable by boat.

sorry to bust up your fun but your not allowed to pump yabbies on mainland. so id try not to get caught. otherwise buy some from the southport baitshop or youll need a boat or a good swimmer.

Hi Teejay, do you have a link to this rule about the yabbies as i have never heard of it before.

I pump yabbies at several mainland spots depending on the size of the yabbie required for each specie i want to chase.

I have never been chatted about doing this and have never heard of anyone being fined for it, cheers wayne

Never heard of any restriction on pumping yabbies on mainland and there is nothing on the DPI site that restricts this for recreational fishers:

Hand pumps

A hand pump may be used on foreshores in tidal waters to take yabbies.

maybe there is a restriction on commercial bait gatherers but I could not find anything specific. Let us know your source of information Teejay.

If your in a boat head for the west side of wave break island at low tide. big sand flats and plenty of yabbies.
And for the whiting, the channel on the north of wave break. fish up near the rock wall throwing towards the beach right on the drop off into the deep channel.
