    Fun on the bream gear

I fished the Maroochy yesterday and found the water very discoloured but it didn't stop the fish. Fished between the Motorway bridge back to Bli Bli walls and ended up with 9 flathead from a smidge over 40 to 55 cm. Had a play around with one of Nico d.r. blades and it snared the biggest lizard. Pulled a couple of bream and a grunter out of the mangroves and on the top of the tide caught this 50 cm golden on a jackall squirrel while he was cruising the motorway pylons. Gee he gave me a bit of stick around the posts and gave a terrific account of himself. Had me tap dancing on the leckie pedal especially after his first run. Cheers

Mexikan,,,It is a good little stretch of water but was surprised by the lack of bream ?
27-28 would have pulled the little gtunter. Still i was pleased as it was the first for me on a HB, Only caught them on baits and SP. Great bunch of locals and old blokes who fish up there during the week. It was a great day

006dam... yeh your right, Must be the light when taking the pic he didn't look that white, I hate fishing solo when it comes to taking pics. you set up camera and timer and hope for the best

Hi chief, how do you find the blades and whats your fav weight??, im just starting to try them, do you use a slow nudge nudge retrieve?, ie just enough to have it twitch and fall or faster?, and well done with the flathead, im starting to think summer is off for flatties in the passage but maybe its just the discoloured water..( fav plastic for flathead? atomic prong 3 inch)

Alleycat, I think these were around 12 grm they were a home made jig made by Nico De Rooy who was pretty active on this site a few years back. I reckon there perfect for working around bridge structures. Just a simple lift and you can certainly feel them work let them drop and wind in the slack and then that slow lift. I thought they may enticed a Trev. T bagging them around the pylons can work as well.
