Sounds like it was a great day out Marty. I'm glad you motivated me to take a day off work and head out.
I ended up heading out through the Seaway just on sun up and trolling south on the 18 fathom line with a mixture of skirts and hardbodies. Had about 10 runs but only 2 made the boat which were stripies. Good fun.
Trolled down to Palm Beach and stopped there for a while with no action at all. There were only about 5 or 6 boats at Palmy and no one looked as though they were on the fish. Next move was heading east to the 80 metre line and we trolled back towards the north for an hour or so with nil hits. It became a little lumpy at 80 metres and the Misses caught the sea sickness bug so I headed back in closer but by this time the fish seemed to go of the chew. Conditions inside the 36's were magic. Got pulled up by fisheries for the first time ever. I think they were struggling to find any boats out there so when they spotted me they figured they'd stop me for something to do. They were very friendly and professional.
We were back in through the Seaway at 12:30hrs and home washing the boat an hour later. Got a call on the mobile from Seaway Tower whilst at home washing the boat and they were asking where I was. I logged off as I came back through the Seaway but the radio operator must have forgotten or neglected to note my return on the log.
Thanks for the motivation for this day out Marty - I had a fun day. The misses not so much after hurling over the side numerous times.
