Hi all, went for a fish for the first time in a while due to work commitments in the hope of securing a good pic of a big Jack.. with a frustrating hour of casting at a usually productive spot i had managed one herring!!! The edge i had chosen to fish was getting smashed about every ten minutes by a large fish and the herring flew through the air to its certain demise.. approx 8 seconds later it was demolished off the surface in spectacular fashion and only resulted in a baited hook...damn!!!!!!!!!!
Another 15minutes of casting produced one lonely mullet and out he went.. to the right of me (my bait was down the left) a big bow wave ripped through the water and i quickly wound in the poor mullet and cast it in front of the bow wave... he stopped for a second then it was full steam at the bait and it was engulfed.. 15 minutes or so later (6lb braid) i landed a very energetic big eye of 62cm.. pretty exciting fishing indeed......

I had two rods with me.. the first one went out on the heavier gear for a jack but the second one went out for the trev... had to free spool him twice because he was heading for the rocks... heaps of fun

Nath i got 4 of them last week in the channel to the north of wave break island...way easier from a boat than spinning for them off the end of the seaway wall in the dark. But thats where the big ones are...

Took about 6 or 7 minutes i guess.. mainly because i couldn't put to much pressure on it for the majority of the fight because he decided to run close to the rocks instead of out in the open..

Thats a good size trev there mate, One of my favorite fish to catch on light gear.
