I recently installed an X-Winch in my Haines Hunter 565. Thought I'd share some pics of the fit-up.
A shot of the winch. This is an X-Winch Medium
Control switch located in a position which minimises possibility of accidental operation.
The solenoid was mounted on a bulkhead at the end of the starboard side cabin pocket.
All wiring was secured with 'P' clips and cable ties. Needless to say, tinned copper cable was used throughout.
A shot of some of the other wiring in the boat. I did this near on 6 years ago, still good as new. Pays to do things properly the first time I guess.
The circuit breaker was mounted at the end of a side pocket, also on the starboard side of the boat.
Here's the hatch cut-out ie for the rope and chain to pass through.
Being a medium size winch, the fit was nice and snug.
As I don't mind getting out in the rough, there was a chance that an increased amount of water would enter the anchor well through the cut-out in the hatch. Solution, double up on the drain. One now fitted to each side.
Rope prepared for loading on to the winch. 100m of 8mm Australian made, polyester double braid.
