Bad experience with a marina?? Why would you only have one at a private mooring? The sea pen I can understand, just curious as to why you think this way?

For the record I could be very happy with the little sister to Timi's 4000 riv the 3000! Buy a nice one with the upgraded 285 electronic control Volvo's and have plenty of change for fuel, marina berth (maybe??) and beer!!!!

There are just soooooo many boats i'd have before a Riv, they would have to be one of the worst riding big boats around!!!
Alcohol doesn't agree with me, but i sure do enjoy the argument!!!

Only going off looks to be honest - only really big boat I have been on is a 48 Maritimo - now it rode VERY nice. Dont think the 250k will stretch that far though!

I'd get something like this one for $160k and use the change to take the family on an extended cruise/fish. Hope they like Saumarez..........what was that about range Tim?

I'd probably chop back the 'pergola', install a davit crane and a cross ship cradle up top to clean up the back deck, install some riggers and see what the seamounts have to offer..........

    not a bad experience..had a boat at a marina..1st year $3000, 2nd year $4000 and 3rd year $5200.
Then antifoul etc..cost about 10k per annum just to tie it up.

PLUS..if stern drive powered..it controls your life as you must use it at least once every 2 or 3 weeks or the lil critters take over the props..then spend half a day laying on the duck board scraping crap offthe props. left it for 5 weeks once and it would not get on the plane at full throttle on both motors.

Much happier now with just the tinny

Nope. Quite wrong actually. If you are a half decent Manager, you can do it quite easily. I know it is true because I'm doing it. And I'm nowhere near decent.

Try googling PROPSPEED a mates had his duoprops done and so far so good after about 6 months submerged - nil growth.

Not going to make your yearly ongoings much cheaper though.

They reckon the yardstick is 10% of the boat's purchase price per annum in maintenance and repairs and I wouldn't argue it.

East coast marina is about $6500 p.a. at the moment (on top of the maint.)

tried propspeed when it firt came out..2 trips and the stainless props were all shiny again.

the diver was good value..$100 to run along under the hull with his mittens on and give an interim clean between lifting the boat...but..out of that now and don't miss it.
