Surf fishing spots with drive to option.

    Hello fellow ausfishers.

I have just moved here from Adelaide.
Overe there there was quite a lot of places where you could take your truck, drive it on the beach, find the good looking gutter and fish there overnight/sllep in the car.
Perfect if you don;t like to carry lots of gear a long way.

Any places I can do the same within 2-4 hours drive of Gold Coast?

Trying to catch a legal jew.

I would appreciate any advice or company for a trip this weekend.

    South Ballina - 1.5hrs
Main beach on North Stradbroke - 2.5hrs (including ferry)
Teewah beach (north of Noosa) - 3 hrs
The beach north of Iluka (can't recall name) - under 3 hrs.

If you live on the Gold Coast, South Beach Ballina would be the closest that you can legally drive on. Can't sleep on the beach, though I guess if you get caught by the tide and have to stay overnight.....
Good luck anyway, if you're on South Beach we'll probably pass at some point.

    Thanks for the info guys.

Still trying to get to know local names for fishing spots.

Is Northern NSW a better beach fishing place than QLD?

Better chance of hooking a mully from the beach?

mate I don't know if it's better, but if you want to drive on the beach it's the closest one to the Goldy. If you like isolation when you fish on the beach, like I do, it's good. Though you can fish at night on most beaches and not many people around, it can be worrying, some beach areas of the Goldy have some pretty unsavoury visitors in the dark...
Dunno about mulloway as I don't fish for 'em, you ocassionally see reports on other sites about NNSW beaches and the local mags usually have a write up about whats happening. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info goat boy.
Being on the beach overnight alone or with a few mates is what the tiggers like best.
Good place to have a few drinks in peace, sand is soft if you fall down.

I am not game to fish overnigh GC beaches either. Hassle is best avoided not sampled.

I believe that I will need NSW fishing licence as well.
