    quintrex 6m ocean sport

well after looking around for quite some time at boats some good alot bad...
so been looking at this 6m ocean sport with a 130hp 2st yammy, at first i was very reluctant to even go look at it, but boy I'm glad i did, this has to be one of the tidiest boats i have seen second to a new boat, its a 2000 model but it immaculate inside and out, we organized a test run and took it out off of noosa today, and the bar was not playing nice, big waves lots of whitewater, but it handled it relatively easy,

yes its a tinny and yes it slaps a bit but it is really really stable at rest and has alot of fishing room, all in all i have to say the boat handled great had no problems with anything at all, we are very happy wit it and have decided to buy it, this is a one owner boat and has always been garaged and extremely well looked after, so we have picked it up for 30k neat, should be picking it up ether this weekend or next week, and will get some photos up soon,

thanks guys, yer i know there are a few haters out there, but i have owned a few different brands of boat and quintrex is by far the most stable for its size,

i forgot to mention that the outboard only has 240 hours on it,

with this been the first boat im goin to own for offshore and not having fished offshore much i will probably be asking everyone for some tips and hints on different things, first thing i should ask wat sort of rod and reel, also wat size should they be?

yer i wasnt sure about only have a single axle trailer, but the hull only weights 650kg and the outboard is 190kgs i think, and the trailer its self is about 350ish so really its a fair bit shy of needing a duel axle trailer, well i think so,

    Re: quintrex 6m ocean sport

oh okay, well i jumped up inside it n made sure i checked the plates and it said 650kg hull weight, i looked at the trailer's plate i know it was around the 300-400kg range, and i was told by a dealer that the 130 yammya outboards are around 190kg, but i will say it does have two 100L fuel tanks in it which will push weight up when there full, im not to sure on how heavy the boat has to be before needing to have a duel axle, i thought it was around 1500kg mark? does anyone know?

    Re: quintrex 6m ocean sport

Tyre load rating is on sidewall of tyres...I have a single axle trailer under a 5.8m Plate with a 140 Suzy on it. No problems in 5 years. Boat and trailer have been over weighbridge, and weigh 1420 kgs with 50 litres fuel. Tyres are l 14" light truck, BR103, each tyre is rated for 875 kgs, giving a total of 1750 kg's. If you Google tyre load ratings, Bob Janes site has a very good chart.

I would think your boat would be ok, but just check the load rating of the tyres, then if you're still worried, spend $10 and put it over a weighbridge.
    All quarries have them.

hey dave yer i went out in her today and had a look at it all, the trailer is capable of carrying 1500kg, the trailer weighs 380kg, the hull 650 kgs and outboard 190kgs, it doesnt even go close to being to much, thanks for the reply to,

    Re: quintrex 6m ocean sport

Brenno 360, I have very similar BMT mass and have a single axle trailer. Peter Webster from F&B noted re. their new 5.6 m trailcraft (the nice new yellow one) that a single axle is perfectly adequate. He did update to a dual axle but he added that was due to the great number of kilometres the rig would be doing. Cheers Winston. p.s. enjoy.
