Thread: Taking a boat to Moreton - drive or ferry

Re: Taking a boat to Moreton - drive or ferry

Just remember if you intend to anchor overnight you should anchor from the bow ( of course - also a nice long rope- warp - so it will always point into the waves/wind) but as insurance have a very long and very slack rope tied to the stern and then to a secure tree on shore, that way it will always point into the wind but if your bowline does break then you will not lose your boat as the tree line acts as insurance.

I have seen a few boats wrecked on north west island as they did not have that stern line in a strong blow.

A third insurance policy is have a reef anchor over the bow so if the main anchor goes then the reefy will hopefully snag something as it drifts.

Definitely drive the boat over. I dunno, maybe I am the only one who
Seems to get more excitement out of the trip there and back, than I do fishing :p

Dual anchor for sure on the beach, and definitely park her deeper away from the breaking waves.
