you just have to crab where the pro's are not......... sucks, but thats the way it is. they have to make a living too.

They are quite entitled to run their pots and good luck to them trying to make a living locally with all the ferals who would be ripping them off

Got a mate thats a pro crabber and yep they are allowed 50 pots, I cna tell you its hard for them as a lot of share farmers like to check them for him, even when is a matter of 100metres away. I have crabbed at the same time as him in the local rivers and still manage to get a feed. Just gotta search a little more.

AS said which creek were you in??

    hey guys,
I went out a few days back and there were amateur pots in line for km's up the river and then there was this bloke that came a long with a grappling hook checking his unmarked pots inbetween.
And then there were pro pots everywhere.
    THERE IS NOWHERE TO HIDE!!

    Re: commercial crabbers

When I was 19 my mates and I caught 64 muddies out of the corner below Dholes Rocks. I look back at it and cringe about my ignorance. We cannot continue to have the number of pots in the water as we do. The fishing cannot support it. We need to reduce it to around 4 pots per boat and cut out the proffessionals. This concept that they can have so many pots in one area consistently over a number of days is going to cause a future problem. The population of fishermen is growing and we need to do something now. I know that this is a radical idea but it needs to be talked about. Do you care about being able to take a feed every so often? I do and would like to see restrictions introduced to save what we have for all of us.
