New to this forum.. Prop Question?

    HI Everyone,

I am new to this forum but view the information on here quite often as I do find it quite useful and people posting in here are quite informative.

Now down to the point.. I have recently bought myself a 2006 HH580 Breeze with a Honda 115hp Honda 4 stroke which is a great boat I am upgrading the 115 to a 2011 Honda 150hp 4 Stroke, but I am unsure of prop size to run.. I have been told that a 19" S/S Prop would be a winner, but I thought I would post on here first prior to buying prop to see if anyone else has any thoughts on this?

Any feedback would be much appreciated.. No doubt this has probably been covered before but any assistance would be much appreciated.

    Thanks heaps !

if you are buying a new motor (and a 2011 model I guess you are) then the dealer will swap props for you untill you get the right one, there will be an initial "best guess" by the dealer unless he has fitted that combination before.

A mate has the 150 Honda on a 585R. His is a 4 blader but don't know the pitch. It worked well whenever I was on board. I imagine the 115 is a bit underpowered on that boat...

    Hi Stevee,
we ran a 150 Honda on a Sea Jay 5.8 CC, best prop for our motor was a 14 3/4 X 18 Solas, got 6100 RPM, great hole shot, top end and fuel economy was great, think the 19" may over prop it.

As stated the dealer should supply the best prop for you, if not ring Solas And get their opinion on it.

@ Noelm : Dealer has recommended the 19".. New motor = no prop but at $1200 for the prop they have quoted.. I think Solas is the go..

    @Jarrah Jack : Yep 115hp underpowered.

@Broomey : Thanks for the info.

Before I called Solas I thought I would put the post up here and see if anyone had same kind of setup.. Good thing with Solas is they will change over prop if you are unhappy with performance.. Pending its hasnt been whacked..

Thanks guys for the feedback !

regardless of the prop you buy with a new motor, the dealer will test and swap it for you at no charge, thats what you pay for, if you buy (say) a 19" when you buy it, but really need a 17, they will swap it for you.

Re: New to this forum.. Prop Question?

Ok found it, Google mercs Enertia X7 props blades are much thinner yet much stronger being made from the X7 (whatever that is ) and a much lighter prop also has the venting plugs which makes a huge difference in hole shot and believe me it does, i would start off with there 898992A46 E 16p

Ohh i almost forgot, make sure the motor height is right to start with, and dont go by what the fitter thinks is right, there was a link or a photo on the right height as 95% really dont have a clue, also light load make sure you get very close to the 6000rpm, once you load the boat with fuel and so on you will loose 200 maybe 300rpm, all the best

Had a 580 with 150 Evinrude 150 ficht on it, ran 19 pitch. Pulled 5400 ish revs from memory. With the Honda I'd be thinking an 18 or a 17. Depends on the prop though.
