    scoreline a little better

Went out last night with a score to settle.. after being dusted 7 nill last night.
decided to concentrate on using livies only as the bream were a bit ferocious picking up and harrasing some big big mullet baits. well they left alone the first livie and i was near starting to wonder if my run had come to an end. After a pretty good wait of around an hour the baitrunner let out a few ticks then stop.. expecting the bream to have finally built up the courage to take on a pretty sizey mullet i picked up the rod only to have it steadily (but slowly) take off. Just as i clicked over the baitrunner the fish decided to head for home and the doubt was erased immediatly..JACK!! this fish put up an incredible fight and i called it for 55.. it even burried me into the structure for about 1 minute and i was really lucky to get him out.. much to my surprise he was well under what i thought. One more big run on a larger mullet happened later and the score line remained at one all for the night......
Cant wait for the tides to swing back around for thurs/fri... i have eyed a spot that i reckon will produce the fish that im after.

hi carnster.. yeah mate the really big one was i hooked was deffinately a GT.. i saw him turn on his side and inhale my lure.. i also saw at least two in the 6kg range get landed and heard of a very good source of one at 8kg get landed. Also the big surprise was a meter queenie.. There are some good fish in Orr, but because the lake is so big everything has to be right for them to concentrate at the wheir. Say hi if ya see me there mate i drive a gold pathfinder with roof racks

Interesting. I have seen jewies, a few unstopables but never the larger queenies. I am not surprised; that would be pretty awesome. Silver Hyundai Getz. I wonder if old mate john is still fishin there. There is a spot i fish in the lake where the flatties congregate at the right time of the year.

Haha.. i have probably met you once before or said hi lol.. yeah john still gets down there from time to time.. still has the yellow van and the mad bugger still goes in and dives for the lures.. he is a good bloke and gave me a few tips when i first moved up here and was trying to catch my first decent trev. He lives in Brisbane now so isn't there as often.
And as for the flatties.. there is some serious ones in there the biggest one i have ever seen came from there and popped my leader right at the bank i jumped in and grabbed it but as i picked it up it came back to life and i dropped it.. man i would have loved to get a pic of that one it was enormous.. and i know the spot for em as well hehe.. anyway mate i will look out for the getz.

Well Done on the Jack Mate,
I fish Bond area quite hard as well and it has been very ordinary this year to say the least for the Trev's.The gates have just been turned back on on Friday by the council after being shut fot the last 2 weeks.
Last year there was one fish caught a bit over 8 kilos and a few around the 6 kilo mark. This year the biggest i have caught or heard about would only be a few kilos.
Hopefully with the rain gone and the gates working again they will be back shortly as the best fish are usually caught later in the season.
Say hello if you see a white express van with roofracks on it.

Your doing great lately now the rivers are settling down. I pulled a metre nurse shark and a catty last weekend (thought i had a jewy but not so lucky) so good luck on the biggun. DD.....
