    Brisbane River 30/1/2011

After the floods I was thinking it would be another few weeks before the river would be fishable again but after reading Chief's report of bream in some of the usual spots I thought it was worth a look see. With a good 15 knot southeasterly blowing, we fished the southern rock walls.
Ended up with 6 bream in the 26 to 28 range and a couple of just legal tailor.
The suprise of the day was my first Jack at 37cm on 6lb leader and 4lb mainline.

Real nice surprise there for ya callop, well done! Was fishing with a mate early last year in super dirty water just near where you were and he landed a little Jack.. How the water clarity? Were you fishin around high water?

    thanks mate.
The water quality was better than I expected. We started an hour after the top of the tide and pulled the pin on the bottom. As you'd expect got steadily worse as the tide dropped.

plenty of bait still around mate. The R2S account for 4 out of the 6 bream. The other 2 and the tailor and jack on a squirell.

nice work Dave ..... great to see you onto some fish

Give a man a fish & he will eat for a day !
    Teach him how to fish
& he will sit in a boat - & drink beer all day!
