Shenzhen Fishing - Fish ID
I went fishing in Shenzhen China on the weekend. Fished a saltwater pond next to a big bay.
I got some strange looks casting soft plastics - most of the local like to bait fish with bait jigs.
I saw some surface activity so casted my plastic in that direction and was smashed on the drop. Must have caught the fish's twin a few casts later.
Not sure what kind of fish this is but it went pretty hard. Each one was around 1kg- good fun on light gear.

Good to see you still fishing...
I seen this similar fish on american vid catching them on the surf and its called croaker. But a small black spot on the tail amerian croaker doesn't have it...
I reckon its close enough...

I think the fish might be a red drum.

Yeah looks a bit like a red drum, which is similar to our jewies.
It does have a jewie x whiting look about it.
Bet the locals were very interested in your soft plastics after that effort!
