Left Bribie at 4am. Moving very slowly as it was still dark and not sure of how much debri was still about until a boat went flying past and used them as a trail blazer. Thanks guysDid not see any debri once the sun came up so fingers crossed for eveyone that it has all cleared and no one has an unfortunate misshap.
With a typical bay crossing and the slow start we are just off the cape and gear in the water just before 6am. Spent the next 4 1/2 hours trolling out to and about the 250mtr line but could not turn a trick. Nice coloured water but no current lines to be seen and only a few small flying fish to show that life exists out here. Was glad to see another trailer boat out this far for that extra peace of mind. I will from now on start posting planned trips out wide in the "Going Fishing" section in the hopes we may be able to get a few trailer boats together for the next one. The troll back to Hutchies was also uneventful with only a couple of small skippies around the 90mtr mark.
Decision was made for a 30 minute dash to spot x out by Wide Caloundra for a quick bottom bounce. First bait down and in seconds Bull has been busted off. Frantic rigging by Terry and he is next with a nice pan sized snapper as soon as his bait reaches the bottom. My wife is also on and she also gets a keeper. The next 30 minutes are just the same with baits being hit as soon as they reach the bottom. Bull ends up with his PB snapper and Terry is complaining about fishing with cotton as he gets busted off then reachs for the 37kg gear. He then proceeds to pull the hooks out off the next unstoppable.
I also get busted off as something big drags the line through the reef. What ever these were they were not speedsters just slow steady pulling but with a lot of weight behind them so maybe cod? We have a feed so we head home with 8 snapper, 1 moses perch, 3 parrot and one large 35cm yakka which maybe why the unstoppables were about.
