Thread: Jack Session

    Jack Session

Went out Monday night with my buddy Screamin Semen and had a decent session.

Plenty of action in the Gold Coast canals. Ended up landing an array of species. A few very solid Flathead and Cod, some nice fat Bream and a few sexy Jacks.

Given there is still some fresh around due to recent rains we were surprised at the quality of fish biting at the moment as the Bream, Flattie and Cod caught were on the larger side.

    The biggest Jack measured 56cm.

All fish were released to fight another day - will be heading out again in a couple of days in an effort to find a larger Jack

Good stuff boys. Night fishing, what could be better? Seems like a few jacks still around on the goldy after all the rain.
Theres way too much fresh in sunny coast and hervey bay for em.

Anyone got a theory on why theyve stayed around?
Fishing- It's only an addiction if you're trying to quit.

Well, in the big picture the goldie never really got that much rain. 3 or 4 day after the BIG WET the hinze dam had stoped running, so after 28 tide changes its just about all back to normal.

haha fair enough mangroves.. i had 3 mates with me and all i had was a tape measure.. i will just say then that that measurement was between me and the boys.... went back a bit one there is some awsome ones in here.. the best one i saw from the goldy went 63.. after about 53 they really put some bulk on hey!!!!

I don't think fresh worries them at all.I remember a conversation I had with Tony from Agnes Water years back after I pulled a couple out of a fresh water creek (totaly drinkable) up his way,one had actualy gone an olive green colour, and he commented that they often chased them up into fresh.
I've pulled them out of the Bruns river when it's been full of fresh,I can remember nearly heading home after seeing the river one time but thought ,why not?traveled an hour to get here.......turned out to be one of the best sessions on them I've had.

    Re: Jack Session

Definately in the fresh! They love it!

Hey Nath, sorry if I missed a pic of a bigger one. You guys are lucky to still pull em out of the creeks at that size. The Jacks in the tropics leave the creeks around 50cm and go out to the reef.
