Hi all
Yeh that was me on the courier mail site Charleville, seen it and thought I would thow my two cents worth in.
Went out in arvo for a look last Tuesday, had intensions of going a bit further out and maybe looking for Macs but only got as far as mud, started doing some drifts, it was the run in tide and was seeing lots of schools of poddy mullet just inside mud, probably washed out from the river, thought it would be worth a go, where there is bait there is fish as the saying goes. First fish was a tailor about 45 long, water was very dirty from Wynnum out until about a couple of klm’s off the back of st. Helena, then it was a bit cleaner but still had some brown in it, out north of mud it was fairly salty but still discoloured. Caught this 6 kg snap on a plastic equal P.B and one more keeper and a heap of throw backs just under. Got approached by csiro research boat and asked to partake in a phone survey within the next couple of days (which i agreed to) and they did ring, told me I was one of about six boats from that day. Showed them the snapper while they were there, come in just on dark and water had started to run out and was filthy back inside mud and running hard. I Was very surprised that it was still holding any fish.
Spoke to some of the pro crabbers and they are saying that most of the stuff washed out went up towards the north. Anyway that’s my report; thought some people might be interested to hear, seeing that things seem to be quiet at the moment.
