We are very excited to announce that its on again. 4th. 5th and 6th of Feb 2011

The Matthew Quinn Memorial Fly Classic.

History:
Each year since 2006 members of we have run a Meet and Greet event at Hervey Bay in memorial of our good friend Matthew (Quinny) Quinn. Matt was tragically killed in a car accident in January 2006. In 2008 we decided to turn this Meet and Greet into a formal competition with the inaugural comp being held in Feb 2009 . It was well attended with 36 competitors attending. As a result we raised over $1100 for the McGrath Foundation. The format this year is the same. Competitors will flyfish for any species, in a large area bounded by Inskip Point in the south through to Bundaberg in the north. The "Matthew Quinn Memorial Trophy" will be awarded to the most memorable capture of the event. This will be decided by a vote of the competitors present at the presentation. A selection of Sponsors prizes will be awarded by way of a lucky draw. This will be a non profit event with the proceeds being donated to a charity chosen by the Quinn Family. (Canteen)

Where:
Hervey Bay including Inskip Point in the south through to Bundaberg in the north. Lenthalls Dam and Lake Monduran.
Briefings and BBQs are held at the Harbour View Van Park, Urangan

Who:
Anyone that wishes to attend. Anglers that wish to simply join in for the social aspect of the week end are most welcome to do so with out participating in the competition, but remember that by entering the comp you will be helping a charity as well as going into the draw for some fabulous prizes



When:

• Friday 4th Feb 2011 will be a Social/prefish day
• Registration and briefing will be at 1900 on the Friday evening
• 0600 Saturday 5th Feb through to 1300 Sunday 6th Feb will be the designated fishing times. Unlike other competitions there will be no close of fishing on the Saturday. Competitors can choose to fish through the night if they like. Likewise competitors are free to camp out overnight at Wathumba or any other location if they choose but Gary Sturdy knocks out a great BBQ on the Saturday night back at the harbour View Van park and this really is the big social night of the weekend
• 1400 Sunday, Presentation at the Harbour View Caravan Park

Wow, doesn't seem 5 years since Quinny passed. I always enjoyed his and all the posts the flyguys used to put here prior to Nat's site starting. Was quite an active forum section 5+ years ago. Hope the comp is a winner and you guys raise heaps for the charity while remembering a good guy.
