Following a few trips exploring the islands off Mission beach, we decided to take a run out to the reef, so when the other half had finished her night shift we headed out, launching about 8 am.
At the current lines there was quite a few branchs and the odd tree floating to be avoided, on arriving at the reef I scouted around whilst my other half caught up with her sleep. The first bommie I dropped the pick and sent down a bait which lasted maybe 5 mins, the reel going off woke the other half and she was chuffed to see a trout come on board. She grabbed a rod and sent her bait down at the bow, within mins she was pulling her first trout up, as I'd just re baited my hook I pasts her my rod while I un hooked it and bugger me if she wasn't on again. I baited her hook and we swapped rods again only to hear her start laughing as she shouted "I'm on again".
This production line continued for a further four times until she said her arms were aching, so we decided to try chasing some birds that were working near us, we trawled for a while and were hit twice but both times the hooks were thrown, I've not done any trawling before and think may be I needed to have the drag set a bit harder to set the hooks better but it was still great fun. Ian.
