Size is the big difference. If you have room go for the 585. I have both and love the bigger screen of the 585. But both are great.
Hi Squid,
I have a 585. In addition to the bigger screen you can run a 600W or a 1KW transducer. IMHO the best unit around for the $$$.

Thank's lads! Do you have to be a rocket scientist to drive em?
There is some good info here on using them. The depth offset is a bit tricky to set up as the manual is short on detail but you soon get the hang of them.

Ditto for all of the above.
I have both a furno and a HDS, the furuno is a lot more stable at speed and quite a bit easier to use.
When the whether sorts itself out I will do a HDS V furuno video and you can make your own mind up, on the detail between the units, where it really gets interesting..

Honda.
Furuno is very user friendly, you really don't need to adjust much in the settings, even in auto settings it is very good!
I have used both 620 and 585, the larger screen definitely suits me better as I typically run split screen zoom all the time. Had no issues with is reading clearly at 60kph with the transom mount 1kw transducer and the same with the 600w on a different boat. All depends on your hull design as to which transducer you should choose and if or not you want a hole in the bottom of your boat.
