    Putt Bennet Family Fishing Festival

So me and the wifey made the trip down to Coffs for the 26th Annual Putt Bennet Fishing Festival.

Weather was average but there was still alot of people around participating.

Best fish of the weekend for me was a 64cm/1.55kg Flathead, which is a PB for me, I had previously only caught 40-45cm flathead. So as you can imagine, I was stoked.

We had to leave early on the Sunday to pick up our son, so missed out on the presentations and prize draws (please dont tell me 381 or 382 got drawn, I will be devastated if I missed out on the first prize tinny, Im sick of landbased fishing and hire boats cost me a fortune)

On the way home we saw a sign for the Evens Head Classic....... hmmmmm time to enter for that now I think.

Nice sized lizard. You've gotta love that colour when they first come out of the water. I had no idea about that comp, sounds like a top day out. About being tired of land based fishing...PM me because I have an idea for you.
    Cheers
    Gav.

Glad you enjoyed the comp, it was acutally the 16th Annual Putt Bennett and is always held the second weekend of January each year. Sign-on is from Thursday afternoon 4-7, then also at weigh-in on Fri/Sat 9-11/4-6pm no sign-on Sunday and weighin 8-11.

There were 559 competitors for the comp, with the under 15 getting a free rod and reel and showbage with heaps of goodies, hats, lures, drink stickers and giveaways. Random rod draws each day for competitors. Prize divisions yesterday were (89) and all awarded and presented by 4pm. Lots of happy anglers. The boat, outboard and trailer, kayaks are a raffle prize and you don't have to be here to win.

Nice flathead there and its a very family friendly comp, the prizes for the champion family, runner-up, 2nd runner-up and third runner-up were quite good.

Just glad to have a few days off now to recover, lots of work and no time to fish myself. Pauline and I are going to slow down now, think after 8 years this will be our last. But the Putt Bennett will continue to be as good as ever. Good sponsors and volunteer always welcome.

    Regards

Fish for the future, enjoy the present but think of your children.
