Yeah, you know normally I'd agree with you. I've spent a fair bit of time with Mark, and I've also spent some time with elements of LNP heirarchy recently.

While we have heard a lot of rubbish from some elements of the LNP, and while I still don't trust any Politician as far as I could spit a rat, I find myself thinking that we need to be behind someone, in the hope that we can get someone behind us.

Ask Mark (who's seat is quite marginal) how many times I've told him that if he lets us down he'll be a very personal, special target... But the LNP are trying to improve standards of accountability and openness. It is an internal process, and one that takes time to become entrenched, at least right now there is a willingness and desire to build a culture that's a little different to the usual political culture. If and when they get into power, we'll see - but I will never stop trying, and never give up hope. If all we do is whinge, then all we do is go backwards. All imho. of course.

I guess the ultimate judgement comes at the next state election in Marks seat. How many people in Marks seat will see his condemnation of Wotif as justified for the donation provided to the Greens by Mr Wood in a personal capacity.

On here is more of a captive audience and at a guess would represent only a small number of voters in Marks seat.

It will be the mutuals in his seat with no affiliation to this website but have an eye for accurate detail that will have the greater say and frankly looking at the last result for that seat the margin is not comfortable enough for Mark to be playing politics with a twist.

If Mr Wood was a vindictive type it could also be suggested he has all the financial capacity in the world to throw everything including the kitchen sink behind another candidate in this very marginal seat next time around.

    Loosely speaking of course.

I'm not sure what planet you live on but a person donating private money does not make any connection whatsoever to the company he works for. I'd really like some explanation of this "sleight of hand" over where the money comes from. I has been widely reported it was from his personal resources. Your kind of distorted logic and quite silly attempts to connect a private individual's actions to a company is very damaging to rec fishers in general. Your continued attempts to defend the OP does not present rec fishers in a good light to those outside the group.

    Here's one for you:

I recently looked into running for a seat for the LNP (shock, surprise, eh?). In order to do so, I would need to put up at least (AT LEAST) $30,000 of my own money to support my campaign.

Thanks to La Nina (or God? He may have felt me in politics was toooo scarey!!!) I have gone backwards by so many thousands in the last 6 months I could weep. So I just can't afford it.

If a person wants to run for Labor? None of their own money, once they are picked as a likely by the Party/Unions, they are funded.

    Cheers,

    Tim

Dont limit yourself to state politics Timi.

Take the easy route in 7 easy steps:

Step 1. Shave ya head, start a band, dance like an electrocuted octopus,
Step 2. Become outspoken on a topic of your choice
Step 3. Get shoveled into a ministerial position based purly on your pop-culture popularity
Step 4 Go against everything you have preached for the last 20 years
Step 5. Oversee a policy that sees a number of people killed in the haste to roll it out.
Step 6. Get put on the back bench with no responsibilities other than attending endless pissy lunches.
step 7. Watch your nest egg grow.

    See .. easy.
