My little bro was home from perth for a few weeks, and i'd heard there were some macks around, so we were keen as to have a crack. Issue was to find a window among all the rubish weather last few weeks.
thurs looked to be the goods so headed ouut early through the seaway. Struggled to find bait but fiinally..after over an hour, found some bait on a little bump. Anchored up and jigged up a little yakka and sent him down for a tethered swim.
Within a minute, this thing jumped on and sarted wreaking havoc. amazing aerials, jumping, cartwheeeling etc. all the to background scream of my reel. Epic stuff. A combination of a vanishing spool of line and a drag that was succombing under the strain, required us to cut anchor rope, tie a float and give chase.
We had it boatside after about 40 mins, but everytoime it saw the boat it headed to the bottom again. About an hour after being hooked, dragged the beast aboard, amid much backslapping and high fiving. scooted staright back to our float and anchor and deployed another yakka, and scored a 107cm spaniard, which felt like catching a whiting after the dollie.
best fishing ive had for a while, and a pb fish for me. went 137cm. couldnt weigh regrettably.
Just awesome to be able to share it with my little bro as well.
happy days
