    fish ID Please

I caught this in the pine river this week, trolling a hard body rapala, what is it?
It is about 10 inches long and the scales are a gold colour...

We call them 'fat-boy herring', good big barra bait, but very hard to keep live

Yeah as noted before it's a bony bream (Nematalosa erebi). Primiarly a freshwater fish and as suggsted by Peter, probably washed down into the saltwith all this fresh.

Also, they are herbivores so catching it on a lure might have been a bit accidental on the fishes part.. Barra love 'em, especially around the 70-100mm size range

Yeah! - bony bream. There are heaps of them in the Pine. I get a lot of them in the cast net. The bigger ones I keep for crab bait and a few of the smaller ones make good live baits for lizards if I can't get many herring.
