    A Trip Up North

Arrived in bowen on the 20th dec, and it started raining and never stopped till the 27th, which threw the fishing trips in to disarray.
But after that we managed a few trips to local reefs around thomas island, gloucster and holbrourn, plus we also managed one trip out to the reef for a overnighter.
Managed a few crabbing trips around elliott rive, gregory and meatworks creeks and scored a few nice muddies.
Arrived back in brissy today and it bloody raining.
We had intentions of drive up, but just as well we changed plans at the last moment and flew as we would now be stuck nth of rocky till the floods subsided.
Anyway here a few shots of a few different fish we managed to catch.
    regards

    Not too bad Webby.

Leaving for Tassy on Friday and we'll be at Barry's on Wednesday. I'll be thinking of you while having a Boags or two and feeding on crays

Nice haul for that week webby and for this time of year. Bowen is actually in a "rain shadow" of surrounding highlands, and is one of the driest places on the Qld coast, so the relentless rain is even more unusual for the locals (fish and fishermen) here.
By the look of the photo's you've done better then anyone I have spoken too recently so congrats to you.
Did you find the inner reefs around the islands TOO loaded with juveniles? Seems to be bajillions of undersized trout around at the moment?

Neil my brother knows a spot in close where the blueys he calls them come in close and feed/search around the rocks, there were a few there that day and you could see them seaching. Just plains arse as we had a bucket of solider crabs on board for some burely, and a few on a hook managed to entice this bloke.
Mick yes thomas and the shoals had plenty of juveilles especially red throats, there was also a plaque of bat fish hanging around and if you get through them there were a few decent fish below.
There were also a few summer greys around, went out from greys one trip, but the amount of shit coming out of the don, had the whole area from the don down past queens beach a deep shade of brown, so we concentrated from glouster across to thomas.
Even tried the jetty one night but only manage a couple of trevally on soilder crabs.
Most of the crabs came on the flats
Mick i am orginally from bowen, and go back every couple of years for a fish.
You may no the ayles, okeefe, fellows, davis, murrays
    regards
