Afternoon Sunshine with a touch of RED

    Happy New Year All.

Did a bit of an afternoon session on sunshine reef. Crossing the bar was good with very small chop, past hells gate which is always like a washing machine, Conditions were not that great but did get better later on. Onto our spot and we find a nice little patch, some good sized grassies, snaps, mouri cod, milfs, tuskies, a lonely flat head and some nice coral trout. I managed my coral trout on a fly ive designed which to my suprise worked. And the smaller trout fell to a pilly for the old man. We were in 42m, current wasnt that great once we anchored up, but it did calm down later on.

We did manage to head out again the following day with another coral trout, snaps, grassies, mouri cods, and some unstopables. Fish are deff on the bite.

    Cheers

    Nik

There rippers mate, thats one fat trout. did you have to add any flesh for some smell to the fly.
i made a batch of glow flies recently and theyve been cleaning up on the perlies.

Re: Afternoon Sunshine with a touch of RED

Cheers for the positive feed back

tfish: Yeah I was pretty shocked when the trout poped out, it was working ok on the other species, then this thing hit, very happy man.

TREVELLY: hehe nicely spotted, every little bit helps, maybe works better in deeper water.

brisbane_boy: I did with pillies, I noticed that I was getting hits but no hook up streight away, so im wondering if the smaller fish picked off the pilly and the trout took the fly? Well I would like to think so anyways

We actually forgot the gaf and net in our other boat and the only net we had was a bream net, was interesting with only the trouts head going in the net.

There is a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot

I wonder how much deeper the ocean would be without sponges
