Does geofencing effect HDS 5x

Hi all,

Just wondering if the above model is effected by geofencing. Friend is overseas and found one for $490 so was wondering if it was worthwhile getting him to buy one for me

I don't think geofencing has anything to do with the HDS 5x, but if you get one make sure it has the V3.5 firmware in it or you're going to having trouble updating unless you have another HDS unit.

Apparently thr HDS 5x does not have a memory card slot so it can't be updated any other way than via another HDS unit (and obviously not from another 5x).

Great info there and I am sure people have been caught out in the past.

I have another HDS combo unit so won't have any issues updating.

You will also need an ethernet cable (about $40 heer in Aus) to connect the HDS5x to the HDS5 to do the updates. Might be able to get one cheaper in the US.
