    fuel gauge problem

    hi all,

my fuel gauge hasn't worked since i bought my boat. it's a half cab with under floor tank with a fuel gauge on the dash. any suggestions on where to start or a checklist of things to look for? there's a mass of wires/fuses/inline fuses etc under the dash and i assume some type of fuel sensor in the tank under the floor. I'm pretty sure I need to remove one of the floor mounted chairs, to remove the floor panel to get to the tank, hence why i haven't had a "quick" look.

    cheers for any help

    Re: fuel gauge problem

Easiest first, wiring behind the guage, then down near where it goes through the floor (often damaged there from moving things on the floor).
Check with a multimeter behind the guage for a reading on power and ohms back through the transducer (record ohms reading) use the boat then check the ohms again, it should read differently if the sender is registering different fuel heights.
    Jack.
