    Richmond River @ Ballina

Just wondering how the river was looking at Ballina after the rain - brown Im guessing? Heading down that way in a week or two with the boat and family in tow, is there much garbage floating in the river? Hoping to be able to get some fishing in with the kids, is it worth going up river at all or just concentrate around the mouth on the flood tides? Any advice from locals would be appreciated.

    Cheers

I went for a fish yesterday on the high tide at the porpoise wall (near the mouth) The river was like a desert!! No hits!! After we went down to the north wall (not the ends, I only have 6ft rods, but up from the VMR tower a bit and we got 4 flatties.......was generally a VERY quiet day though!!!

G'Day Scott, I read a report frm a fellow fisho who was fishing the flats opposite the club yesterday on the top of the tide. He managed a few bream of surface lures along with a lone whiting. I tossed a few slices of bread in up at the fish feeding station on Sunday and the bream were ravenous so they are still there. Its clearing every day so you may find a few fish in the lower reaches when you get here.
