WOW, what a beautiful place!!!!!
Got down to Pottsville this morning and headed straight to the Black Rock area, we fished on the beach a little to the south because there was a lot of surfers and swimmers where we intended to throw in. The swell was up a bit and the current was flowing HARD. Didnt even get a bite here and it was a bit to rough for the young bloke to swim as well so we made the decision to try up at the mouth of Mooball Creek.
Got to the mouth at probably about 7-7:30am, went to the Northern side of the mouth about 40 metres from where the waves were breaking......... first cast - 25cm Bream (released), 2nd cast - 23cm Bream (released), 5th cast - WHACK - 45cm Flathead!!! I was getting pretty excited about this spot!
As the tide turned, the water running out of the mouth was incredible and each cast had to be retrieved after about 1 minute before it was washed into the rocks. In that 1 minute that the bait was in the water though we managed to get another Flathead at 40cm, and about 5-6 more Bream between 22-25cm.
Thanks to Viper for the tips on fishing Pottsville, they paid off
Anyway, I am now off to fillet the 2 Flatties (the only 2 fish we kept) then get all my gear ready to hit Pottsville again tomorrow morning bright and early
