Re: Warning Cooroooman Creek pot thieves

Its a bit extreme but what about a very small GPS tracker hiden in the plastis tube that joins the rings? Find out where they live then wait for them to go out somewhere, im sure sugar in an outboard fuel yank would have the same effect as it does in a car engine...or a hand drill with a 5mm bit would give them that sinking feeling after a short while in the briny

thats the go wayno, plenty of bludging pricks living in the park with tinnies, survive by selling mull, running and ripping off pots(and oyster leases), running nets at the creek and down Long Beach and all other sundry scumbag activities, stake em out and have a welcoming committee at the ramp, thats the go !!!
Has always been a problem in this area !!

There is a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot

I wonder how much deeper the ocean would be without sponges

    Wayno,
    some good ideas there.
    JT,
Bought some dillies and pots.Trying some offshore crabbing now,let you know if it works.
It wasn't a Councillor that got my first three pots, surely the culprits are well known. I'm a bit of a newby to Coorooman. If I see the pricks offshore, I could probably fit them down between the hulls of KD.

You blokes are kidding about using dillies aren't you?!?!? Banned from April the 1st (?). Didn't think anywhere would sell them still?

I often hear on this site abut dillies being banned but the QLD DPI website still shows them as legal gear in both tidal waters and freshwater.

    That's right JT,
Only witches hat or suicide dillies have been banned as they do too much damage to the crabs and are very bad as a ghost net.
I've been using the wire base dillies for sandies, so I'll give'em a go on the muddies.

    Offshore crabbing result....1 from 3

Re: Warning Cooroooman Creek pot thieves

    Hi all,

Yes, I can relate to people having their post stolen. I have lost a total of 35 pots over a 20 year period. From the ubeaut heavy steel cages costing $75.00 each to the elcheapo pots from BCF 4 for $75.00 when they were on special.

I worked damn hard to earn my money so I can purchase pots and fishing gear in general ansd put a lot of effort in to getting a feed of fresh crabs, but these arseholes who steal other peoples pots are lower than scum, I'm no muslim but I would be in favour of having their hands chopped off , guarantee they wont do it again and others would think twice especially if this was done in public.

Person/s need to be caught in the act though

I'm all in favour of a special fisheries court that could be established and to dish out this justice

    Thats my view

    Aussie123,

    Merry Christmas

How did you go the other day when you went to chase Bass or was it Barra?

Did you get any spare Bass or Barramundi that you could relinquish

    Cheers, Peter

    JT,
You know it is well known that our councilors offspring as well as his brother etc all indulge in pillaging the creek, not mentioning any names though !!
