Hi
Lots up river at present. Past Monty's marina is a good place to start but anywhere past bakers and you shouldn't have any probs.
As for gear I can't really advise as we don't fish for shark.

from my experience ive had better results when the water is abit more saltier i find the sharks concentrate in smaller areas then. but with the river in flood or overwhelmed with fresh you have to wait longer for a bite and try a few more areas. as mrs ronnie said up past montys probably around 4 klms past. 4000 size real baitrunner option very handy but not neccesary. 20 lb braid wire trace a must single mustad penetrator in the lip of a live mullet bigger the mullet the better.
