    Lure tactics

I was up at Noosa the other week on holidays and picked up some nice fish on poppers. After they had gone off the chew I used a DOA shrimp in gold and got a few bumps, but no hook ups The question is when feeling a bump should you pause your retrieve or carry on in the hope of a hit,or does it depend on the species you are targeting . Or does it depend on the mood they are in. Does this very from top water lures to minnows or to soft plastics.

yes this does very from what type of lure you are versing and what fish you are chasing for example if your poppering for trevally and you get a hit keep poppering and it should come back but if your using softplastics for flathead and you get a hit keep on jigging but yer i guess it does depend on what type of mood they are in if they are hungry they'll come back for it if your chasing bream id stop it for a while until they stop biting and give it another jig

i hooked up to my best flathead on monday. actually saw it from the boat. it hooked on hard then let go, i could see the plastic and the fish so i just jigged it again and it nailed it hard

When fishing for flathead on plastics, when I feel a hit I stop the retrieve for about 4 or 5 seconds then start again, maybe a little slower than before. It seems to work for me, but there are people on here with far more knowledge than me on the topic, so I dunno if I'm doing it the 'correct' way or anything.
