tried some grinners for sand crab bait, and anyone who reckons crabs won't eat grinners needs to try it............
crabs ate every bit of grinner they could get to in the pot. I'll be keeping these pests as crab bait in the future

They have to be useful for something.
Will give it a shot next time i'm out with the pots.
Cheers Dazza
even if you just use them for accessable chewing food in the pots in addition to a little mullet in a protective mesh - chewing food stops them fighting in the pot and tearing each others legs off.
Hi TB,
Might try them next time for Spanner crab bait.
Duckfish
thats exactly what I am going to do come the 21st.......
i always keep them for crab bait, crabs seem to love them.am keen to give the spanners a go next yr..havn't done it b4 but am sure i will get a few.how many crabs you get trueblue
cheers rosco
knock the sides of the grinners and use em for flesh baits when they r fresh, work well for squire in the bay.
seems to be alot of jennies around this year
I ran out off squid one day fishing for whiting in the Rouse had a couple of grinners in the bottom of the esky which were going home for crab bait and the whiting were still on the bite.
Took a fillet of one of the pesky things and cut it into small strips and presto whiting comming back into the boat again. It would appear that they are good bait for a few different things.
As huskii has said ive caught a few snapper at Harries (not big enough to keep)on them as well.
Cheers Axl
they cant be that bad cause dolphins love them too.

I used to chuck them away, won't be doing that so much any more
