Had today off after a wet week so wanted to go out for a flick but to stormy in arvo so thought what do you do when it is hot and stormy? I thought not jack fishing again with clothes from head to toe with gumboots on and another long quiet day sitting watching rods jig with live mullet. Got there on high with a lot of mullet around so netted up some and hooked my 4000 twin power and my cruxis both with 20 pound leaders and sat back and watched the storm build. My wife calling me reminding me of the guy thur that got hit by lightning playing golf and i thought i have to stay to at least try as this is perfect weather for jack (from the storys on aus fish) and a huge fish jumped over my line. Thinking it was one of those rare barra from down here i thought i better recast it and it loaded up. Problem was i had 2 rods crossed over on a tree and it got twisted twice so i was fighting it like a pupeteer with one rod in either hand trying to untangle it and after that hooking up a large tree branch and still landed it and bingo it was what i came for in 20 minuted or so. I was wrapped to actually hook one after so many arvos trying to no avail. Grabbed the baitcaster to wind up as the storm was over me and what do you know it was on as well but after setting the hook it said sorry no go as it was bigger than the first one and reminded me of leader size lol. Got out of there asap before rain and heart was going major as this is one of my personal chalengers to land one of these buggers. Didnt run as hard as i was hoping but still hard with a tree branch stuck to the line. One happy fisho after 1 week of a wet, hot week with 2 road pours lost to rain and this cheered me up major. Not huge but my favourite fish to date.
