Debutoff Breaksea spit 11/12/10
Got the boat in the water at urangan at 1830,logged on and headed for Rooney's. Arrived at Rooney's around 11,anchored up and put the heads down. Saturday we headed up the inside of the spit and crossed the bar just south of porpoise shoal at 5am. Outside was good, about 1 meter of swell with 10 to 15knts on it. Willys weather was on the money with it dropping out to about 5 knt mid morning.
Headed due east and pulled up on some ground in 45 meters for a few red throat, then moved out to 85 to 100 mtr line but didn't find any shows so headed back in to 50 to 60 line. It was a matter of finding, dropping and move on to the next. Never came across any big shows on sounder, just a few here and there. Current was moving along at about 2.5 knots with sea anchor out.
Anyway ended up with a good feed of red throat, cod and hussar with baits and plastics. Sweety's were around the 50cm mark, cod were around the 4kg. Came back in about 3 mile north of sandy cape. Sorry no pics as my mate reckons the camera jinxs the boat. Next trip will be a full night and a day with more time to explore. Pretty happy with first trip out there.
