    Barcrushers-Soft Hulls?

Barcrusher owners are the hulls in the 560s soft and easy the ding or are they ok. Sounds like a crazy question but saw a crusher on Boatpiont and it had serious damage to the hull caused by the trailer. I'm looking to upgrade soon and the 560 crusher is on the short list. mojo

5083 is 5083, all plate alloy boats should be made from this, I assume Barcrushers are the same. I'd say its a trailer issue more than anything

yeah trailer can be a serious issue for fibreglass and plate, pressed boats if not adjusted right, many punters don't relies this

    Re: Barcrushers-Soft Hulls?

I have a 530 crusher so I think I have 1mm less in the hull (I have 4mm thickness instead of 5mm as in the case of the 560)
As to damage caused by the trailer- if its a genuine easytow I find this hard to believe unless the trailer has come off the guides and scraped along one of the runner mounts. Pretty difficult to do this though.
I have replaced the standard guides with self centering alloy guides and there is no damage at all (I drive on and off using a boat latch) so I would say the hulls are very tough and can take a real beating. I can drive onto a gravel beach and have no worry of what the hull will be scraping against. Probably amongst the quality of comparable plate hulls, and much much stronger than glass or pressed tin by far.
I would be asking what caused that damage on the hull to the seller.

    G'day,

I think this is what you are referring to. Looks like it hit a reef or pontoon or came onto the trailer sideways. Only way to know for sure is contact the owner and ask the question.

Are those dents in the hull at all the roller contact points??? That boat would have done some kms on that trailer. They fished it pertty hard during its magazine run

I suggest the boat has been overloaded for long trips and it has taken its toll, looks like it has been run up on a few rocks too, had a hard life

    cheers

Without doubt that trailer is totally wrong for that boat,

A single roller supporting the front 80% of the boat is asking for trouble, Aluminum isnt indestructible. All that weight on 1 roller is just plain silly.

Lots of dints above the chine too, looks like its had a hard life..

From what I understand there is 5083 and 5083HT, its the 5083HT that you want the majority of you boat made out of as the 5083 is designed to fold without cracking where as the high tensile version will crack. But I may be wrong....

The trailer will be like new as they dragged the boat to and from destinations and left the trailer at home.Man what a wreck. If thats the way the boat was treated what about the motor?Jim
